LONDON’S ABANDONED TUBE STATIONS

Posted on December 31, 2011

Anyone who’s ever been to London know about the reliable Tube-system counting 270 stations. Being the oldest subway in the world, the first stations opened in 1863 and during the years some stations have been closed and abandoned while new lines and stations have opened. In fact there is about 40 abandoned Tube stations and it is possible to visit most of them. English Ben Pedroche have written a fine book about this giving us 12 guided tours that you can take by yourself if you feel like exploring a less known side of London. Some stations are ghostlike and eerie whereas others are being used for other purposes i.e. exhibitions. Interesting stuff! Buy the book here.
